Hootie Hoo!

Thank you so much for considering being a part of our sisterhood! Our directors and faculty are always looking forward to working with new talent. Season 9 Mid-Season Auditions will be hosted on Wednesday, December 17th and Thursday, December 18th. Registration will open on Monday, December 1st. More info regarding the audition process can be found below!

Be sure to follow @teamathenadtx on Instagram to stay up to date on all audition info!

  • DAY ONE: Wednesday, December 17th

    DAY TWO: Thursday, December 18th

You must attend both days in order to qualify!

  • To be considered for auditions, you must complete the registration form. The form includes a series of questions, a video submission (slate, dancer doing choreography performance of their choice), optional headshot, optional resume and $35 registration fee in order to submit.

Day one will be a single class taught by our directors.

Day two will a require a 1-minute in person solo performance from each candidate.

  • Dancers must pay a one-time fee to submit their registration form of $35. This covers the cost of both audition days.

  • Registration opens on Monday, December 1st, and closes Monday, December 15th.

  • There is no prep clinic date for mid season auditions, but our directors teach every Thursday 8:30-10PM at Centre for Dance. We recommend attending those classes, as well as any Team Athena Presents workshops to prepare!

  • Each sector has its own weekly schedule.

Athena: Wednesday nights 7-10PM, biweekly Thursday nights 8-10PM, and Saturday’s 11AM-3PM

Angels: Tuesday nights 8-9:30PM, Wednesday nights 7-10PM, biweekly Thursday nights 8-10PM, and the 2nd Saturday of the month 11AM-3PM

By April, Angels will shift to only having rehearsal Tuesday nights and every other Thursday, with an adjusted tuition rate to reflect the change.

  • Weekly rehearsals are hosted at both Kumbala Dance Studio and Centre for Dance. Occasionally, rehearsals may be hosted at Studio 12 Dance Center, subject to studio availability.

  • Team Athena typically attends World of Dance Dallas in (May 2026) and Down South Houston (June 2026).

Both dates have not yet been confirmed, but they are usually set in the aforementioned months.

  • Tuition is $180/mo due the second Saturday of each month. Think of it this way: Tuition covers four classes per week, which adds up to 16 classes per month. That breaks down to just $11.25 (180/16) per class.

Considering community classes average $15-$25 per class, there is nowhere else you will receive this level of training, mentorship, performance opportunity, and industry access for that rate. This is not just class—this is a full experience designed to push you mentally, physically, and creatively.

Tuition also helps cover essential operating costs including studio rentals, media fees and staff, content production, weekly guest instructors, team outings, and more. Every dollar goes directly back into the team—maximizing value while maintaining excellence.

  • Athena’s Angels is the INTERMEDIATE training program developed for dancers to transition onto Team Athena, both training and competing at an advanced level. Classes are designed to strengthen your dance foundation with an emphasis on retention, technique, confidence and artistic development.

Team Athena is our ADVANCED training team that is given performance, gig, and competitive opportunities. Classes are designed to refine your dance training with an emphasis on conditioning, discipline, performance and artistic development. Angels does not compete with Athena, and is solely a training team.

Dancers are assigned a group to train under at auditions.

  • Team Athena emphasizes industry and commercial style dance. We host a wide variety of professional and local instructors, as well as classes with our directors and in house faculty. In the past season, we’ve worked with Dez Soliven, Gab Robert, Chris Lucky, Joseph ‘Asi, Tacir Roberson, Kassidy Bright, Alekz Samone, and Peter Pinnock.

We also offer foundational training in hip-hop, popping, house, vogue, heels, freestyle, and jazz funk.

We have a weekly strength and conditioning routine, monthly meetings with our team trainer, and an injury prevention program with our team physical therapist.

  • Though it varies each season, dancers can expect at least 2-3 performance or competitive opportunities. We also typically attend one convention, shoot concept videos, and have our annual team photoshoot. Gig opportunities are provided to dancers as they are offered to our team, typically doing music videos and live performances for local artists. Past experiences have included music videos with local artists Porsha Jay and Tyra & Tiara, live performances at RBF, Ruins, and SXSW with Lexaay, and entertainment at the national touring all-girls Latin event, Sorry Papi.

  • Team Athena members must be at least 18 years old to audition. There is no age limit.

Any members under 18 are a part of our Junior Elite squad, which are hand selected by our directors. There is no audition process for Junior Elite. If you are interested, please consider attending a drop-in class and touching base with our directors in person!

  • To prevent scheduling issues and conflicts of interest regarding competitions, performances, and team activities our members are not to hold membership on other dance teams simultaneously.

There are few exceptions to the rule which will be discussed at team orientation.

  • There are no refunds should you be unable to attend auditions for any reason. Please ensure you are available for both audition sessions (Saturday, August 23rd and 30th) and orientation (Saturday, September 6th) prior to registering.
