FAQs

  • Men’s Training is a Sunday-based training series designed for male dancers looking to build strength, performance quality, and commercial readiness in a focused, high-level environment.

This program mirrors the structure of Team Athena’s weekend training model while centering masculine movement quality, conditioning, and performance presence.

  • Not at this time.

Men’s Training is a drop-in training series, not a formal team or competitive group.

The purpose is to build consistency, gauge interest, and create a dedicated training space.

Future opportunities may grow from this program based on interest and commitment.ion

  • Men’s Training is open to:

    • Intermediate to advanced male dancers ages 16 & up

    • Male dancers interested in commercial, hip-hop, and performance-based work

    • Male dancers seeking stronger foundations, confidence, and stage presence

This is not a beginner program. Dancers should be comfortable learning choreography quickly and training for extended blocks of time.

  • Training runs Sundays from 12-3PM.

    Each session includes:

    • A structured warm-up and conditioning built into class time

    • Two 75-minute classes with short breaks

    • Focus on foundations, performance quality, and choreography at instructors discretion

All sessions are hosted at Centre for Dance

  • Instructors rotate weekly and are drawn primarily from the Team Athena leadership and extended network.

Sessions will be led by Team Athena directors Kylah Kuura and Darius Brown, with Assistant Director Davion Camp serving as a consistent presence throughout the program — both as an instructor and as an active participant in class.

As the program develops, we plan to bring in additional male instructors from our Dallas, Houston, and Austin networks, along with select guest instructors when schedules align.

The goal is to expose dancers to a variety of teaching styles while maintaining a consistent training standard rooted in discipline, conditioning, and performance quality.

  • $25 Day Pass, which includes both classes for the day. No single-class option — training is designed as a full session experience.

At times, rates may increase depending on the instructor for the day (industry or out of town guests).

  • No long-term commitment is required.

However, dancers are strongly encouraged to attend consistently to get the full benefit of the training structure and progression.

  • Men’s Training exists to provide consistent, high-level training for male dancers who want to grow beyond drop-in classes and surface-level repetition.

Over the years, Team Athena has trained, collaborated with, and competed alongside male dancers in limited capacities. What became clear is that many dancers lacked access to structured environments that emphasize conditioning, retention, stamina, and performance accountability — the same pillars that define Athena’s training culture.

This program is not a team. It is a training space designed to test consistency, commitment, and work ethic while giving dancers access to Athena’s network.

If interest and participation remain strong, Men’s Training has the potential to evolve into something more structured in the future. That growth, however, is entirely dependent on turnout, consistency, and effort from the dancers themselves.
